Round Times: 10:30; 12:15; 2:00; 3:30
5 SECTIONS: 3 Rated Sections, current USCF membership required to play in rated sections:
Under 500, Under 900, and Premier for players rated 900 and above. Players may play up one section if rated within 100 points of the section. Unrated, and new players wanting a rating, can play U500.
2 Nonrated Sections: Nonrated Grades 3 and Below and Nonrated Grades 4 – 12 are for new players and players rated below 500. Unrated and new young players may also play in the Under 500 Section if they want to become rated. It is suggested for new players to play at least one tournament in an unrated section and earn a plus score before playing rated.
Note: Sections may be combined at Tournament Director discretion.
Entry Fee: Advance entry received by midnight Thursday,November 14 is $32.
Late registration is $37 through midnight Thursday, November 28. Then, $42 from Friday, November 29, through Thursday, December 5. No online registration Friday, December 6. Onsite registration is $47. Register by 9:00am to be paired for round #1. If later, receive a 1/2 point bye in Rd #1. We will post registration updates on the Website, but the FINAL registration list will be posted at the tournament. It is the parent’s responsibility to arrive by 9am to have errors fixed before Round #1.
Byes: 1/2 Point Byes available in Rounds 1-3. No byes in Round #4. Byes for Round #1 must be made when you register. Byes for Rounds 2 & 3 can be made when registering or before Round #1. Zero point byes are also available by specific request. If you must miss any round where you don’t have a Bye, you MUST tell a TD as soon as possible.
Register online at: https://www.championshipchess.net and click Register, choose Tournament, and follow steps to register and pay for the 9th Annual Winter Blast. Current USCF ID# required to be paired for Round 1, unless playing in nonrated section.
Trophies go to top scores in each section and all players with plus scores. Top K and 1st players in the Nonrated 3 and Below Section. Players must complete all 4 rounds to earn trophies.
Premier Section: 1st and 2nd Place will receive $32 refund, in addition to trophies.
Tournament Director Update: Since we have WiFi onsite, we will have online pairings and Wall Charts available the day of the tournament. Food is easily available nearby. We suggest that parents bring camping chairs for seating in either the covered pavilion or in the Church. You will receive an email Friday before the tournament with any other details about tournament links, parking, etc.
Review of games will be available between rounds by Championship Chess Coaches.
