Georgia Class Championship 2012

Registration

  • You must be a full-time student at Emory University and enter the coupon code.
    You must have a current USCF membership to play in this tournament.
  • Participation in this tournament requires current USCF & GCA memberships. If you live in Georgia you must join the Georgia Chess Association to participate in this event. First renew/join if you are not current, then come back and register.
  • Non-Georgia Residents are not eligible to win trophies, but are eligible to win cash prizes. If you live in Georgia, you must choose GA resident and become a GCA member.

    USCF registration is required to participate in this tournament.
*on-line registration is closed* Be considerate of those who have registered in advance by arriving early to register on-site.  Friday 6-7PM; Saturday 8:30-9:30am.  We must stop accepting registration after the registration hour in order to pair players and start on-time.

Format: 5-SS, G/120 (2 day schedule rd 1 G/90) 


Entry fee: $50 if received online by Thursday Nov. 15th
                 $60 later or at site
                 Free entry to full-time Emory students

Prizes & Sections: $3,100 based on 83 entries,
                               60% Guaranteed

     Premier (over 1999): $500-300-200;
                 *Under 2200: $250-200
     Class A (1800-1999): $200-125-75
     Class B (1600-1799): $200-125-75
     Class C (1400-1599): $150-100-50
     Class D (1200-1399): $150-100-75
     Under 1200: $100-50
     Unrated: $100 (May be treated as class prize within U1200)

Players may play one section above current rating. 

Trophy to top Georgia resident each section, top under 2200 in Premier section.

Rounds:    3 day schedule
                 Friday: 7:30 pm
                 Saturday: 2 pm & 7 pm
                 Sunday: 10 am & 4 pm

                2 day schedule
                Saturday: 10am, 2pm & 7pm
                Sunday: 10am & 4pm
               (merges with 3 day schedule after round 1)

Byes: ½ point bye available any round. Limit 2.
          Must commit when entering. No changes.

Note: *Under 2200 is not a separate section.

Registration by mail:
GCA, P.O. Box 2584, Suwanee, GA 30024. Check must be received by Thursday 11/15

On site registration: $60 from 6 - 7pm on Friday Nov. 16th
                                  8:30 - 9:30am on Saturday, Nov. 18th

GCA General Membership Meeting: Sunday 11/18 3pm
Election for 2nd Member-at-Large will be completed. Candidates are Tim Payne and Thad Rogers.

A series of By-Laws proposals submitted by Thad Rogers will be considered.
