The annual GCA sponsored State Championship event is open to public, private or home schooled teams that have qualified through the State Qualifier, or through qualifying competitions in other areas of Georgia.
State Championship titles will be awarded in four sections:
K-1 (Pre-primary)
K-3 (Primary)
K-5 (Elementary)
6-8 (Middle School)
Format: Game/25 minutes with a five second delay for all sections. Five-player ordered board format with Swiss System pairings will be used in all rounds in all sections except K-1 which will be a four-player ordered board format. In determining standings at the end of the tournament the primary factor will be the number of match wins.
Entry fee: $125 per invited team except for Pre-primary (K-1) which is $100. Fee must be paid online at registration.
Registration and payment deadline is Friday, March 13, 2014. This deadline is firm. No on-site registration. Any team which has not registered by the deadline may be replaced by an alternate team.
Rounds: 10:00-11:30-1:00-2:30-4:00.
Awards ceremony ASAP after completion of fifth round.
Team Roster: A school team consists of 5 to 7 full time students, although only 5 can play in any one round. Pre-Primary team consists of 4 to 6 full time students with 4 playing in each round. Players must be ranked on the registration form in order of playing strength. This ranking will remain constant throughout the entire tournament, and will strictly govern which board position the player is assigned in a given round.
Sets and boards supplied. Please bring clocks. This is a rated tournament requiring current USCF membership for all players and alternates.
Below is the list of teams who qualified and are invited to play.
Alternates will be notified if a qualifying team does not register or cancels. Please note that other schools from Georgia will qualify to play and will even out sections.
