The annual GCA sponsored state championship event is open to public, private or home schooled teams that have qualified through the State Qualifier, or through qualifying competitions in other areas of Georgia.

State Championship titles will be awarded in four sections:

  • K-1 (Preprimary)
  • K-3 (Primary)
  • K-5 (Elementary)
  • 6-8 (Middle School)

Format: Game/25 minutes with a five second delay for all sections. Five-player ordered board format with Swiss System pairings will be used in all rounds in all sections. In determining standings at the end of the tournament the primary factor will be the number of match wins.

Entry fee: $95 per invited team, which must be paid online. This is waived for teams from outside the metro-Atlanta region.

Registration and payment deadline is Friday, March 14, 2014. This deadline is firm. No on-site registration. Any team which has not registered by the deadline may be replaced by an alternate team.

Rounds: 10:00-11:30-1:00-2:30-4:00.

Awards ceremony ASAP after completion of fifth round.

Team Roster: A school team can consist of 5 to 7 full time students, although only 5 can play in any one round. All these players must be ranked on the registration form in order of playing strength. This ranking will remain constant throughout the entire tournament, and will strictly govern which board position the player is assigned in a given round.
