This is a Championship Chess Signature Tournament.
NOTE: Round#1 for the Premier Section is only on Friday night

Premier Section for those rated 1000 or more; 600 - 999 Section; U600 Section
One Unrated Section

Premier Section for those rated 1000 or more: 1st round is Friday night, July 17th; Rounds 2, 3 and 4 are Saturday July 18th
For Sections 600-999, Under 600 and Unrated, all 4 rounds on Saturday, July 18th
Premier 4SS, G60/d5; Round Times: Friday 6:30pm, Saturday 10 am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm
Other 3 Sections 4SS, G30/d5: 600- 999, under 600 and Unrated are on Saturday;
Round Times: 10:30am; 12:00noon; 2:00pm; 3:30pm
Players within 100 points of any Section may play up a section. Unrated players wanting to play rated can play in the Under 600 Section. Unrated players and those rated under 600 may choose to play in the Unrated Section. For the Unrated Section, no memberships required and no rating points will be received.
Current USCF membership required for ALL Rated Sections.
Byes: Half point byes available only in rounds 1-3, if requested before Round #1. Zero bye if missing round 4
Trophies: To all plus scores in all Sections.
Premier Section 1st $100 and 2nd $50 chess scholarships
Entry Fee All Sections: $25 by Mon., July 13; $30 by Thurs., July 16 midnight; then, $35. To be guaranteed pairing for Round #1 on Friday night, register in advance or by 6:00pm onsite; to be paired for the first round on Saturday, register in advance or by 9:00am.
Consider adding half or all day Friday Camp to prepare for the tournament.
REGISTER and PAY ONLINE: Go to www.championshipchess.net click "K-12 Tournament." In the “Tournament Name” field, enter Scorcher. In the “Section” field, enter the section in which you want to play (Premier, 600-999, U600, or Unrated). Complete your registration including probable school name and upcoming grade. If this information is not complete, the TD will place you in an appropriate section.
Championship Chess Coaches are available between rounds to review games.
