2013 Metro Atlanta K-8 Team State Qualifier

Where: Exhibition Halls A and B at the Cobb Galleria   Centre, 2 Galleria Parkway SE Atlanta, GA 30339


When: Saturday, February 9, 2013. Arrive by 9:30am


Open to:  All elementary and middle school students within the MetroAtlanta Area. This mega-tournament replaces the four metro area Regionals that were previously held in February.


Sections are by grade:   K-1, K-3, K-5, and 6-8.


Format: Five round, unrated, individually paired Swiss System tournament with a time control of 25 minutes per player with a five second time delay (30 minutes per player w/ analog clock).  Unless byes are requested, players will be scheduled to play all five rounds (this is not an elimination tournament).


Rounds: 10am – 11:30am – 1pm – 2:30pm – 4pm. Awards ceremony ASAP after round 5.


Byes: Maximum two, zero point byes (see FAQ) are allowed. Please specify when registering.


Registration: Must pre-register and pre-pay

Registration & Payment deadline midnight Tuesday, February 5, 2013. 


Entry Fee: $25 per player, payable online.


Awards: Ribbons to all participants. No individual trophies.  Team trophies will be awarded to all school teams with plus scores.  There will be County Champions. Invitations to the State Tournament will be determined after the event.


Note: Advanced entry lists will be posted online and will be updated periodically. A final registration list will be posted in the tournament hall by 8:30am. These will show the players, sections, ratings, teams, and requested byes. We will pair round one promptly at 9:30am


*There will be over 1000 players at this event and it is your responsibility to arrive early enough to have any first round issues reported before we begin pairing round one.
