In the event of a tie, the stipend will be awarded as follows: players will play two G/10 d5. After those games, if a tie persists, players will play one "Armageddon" game with White getting 6 minutes to Black's 4 minutes, both sides receiving 5-second delay, and Black having draw-odds.
The Georgia Chess Association is hosting the senior open as an OTB tournament after a hiatus of two years. To maximize participation and offer an opportunity to many seniors who may need help to participate at this event, GCA would like to help facilitate participation with the following actions:
1. Offering registration over the phone. If you cannot register for any reason using the internet or email please call at 770.744.8595 to get someone who can help you register. Payments have to be received before the event starts so that we don't pair no-show players.
2. If you need help traveling to the tournament then please call 770.744.8595. We will do what we can do to find you a volunteer driver or pair you with another player coming from a similar location.
3. We will provide light snacks such as coffee, water, bagels, deli meats, cheese and the like for those participating in the tournament.
If you have any other specific needs please contact us at 770.744.8595 or senioropen@georgiachess.org and we will see what we can do to accommodate you.
Regards,
GCA volunteer staff
