2021 Georgia Women's and Women's Scholastic Championships

This event will honor women and women scholastic players in Georgia. The scholastic winner of the will represent Georgia at the 2022 National Girls Tournament of Champions.  Overall winner will be crowned the Georgia Women’s Champion.  


ELIGIBILITY FOR STIPEND AND 1ST PLACE TROPHY

  • All participants must be residents of the State of Georgia for 30 days prior to the date of the qualifying tournament.

  • Scholastic players must be under the age of 20 on or before September 1, 2022.

  • The scholastic players must be completing at least 50% of their educational instruction in a state approved K-12 curriculum for a minimum of 30 consecutive school days prior to the qualifying event. Players may not be listed as a full-time college or university student prior to the qualifying event.

FORMAT

2-day USCF-rated event, 5-SS, Time-Control: G/60+15

3 rounds held on Saturday, 10 am, 1:30 pm, 5 pm and 2 rounds on Sunday, 10 am, 1:30 pm

Sets and Clocks provided.


AWARDS AND PRIZES

Stipend of $500 to the winner to attend the 2022 National Girls Tournament of Champions.  GCA will be offering a $500 stipend to the overall winner of the Open Section to attend the2022 US Women's Open

1st - $300, 2nd - $175, 3rd - $100

Trophies to top two in K-12, K-8, K-5, and Overall


BYES

One “½ Point Bye” is available in Rounds 1 thru 4. A “Zero Point Bye” is available in Round 5. All Byes must be requested in advance of 1st round before pairings posted. No changes afterwards.


Entry Fee

$50.00, Late Entry $65 after Wednesday 19 January 2022

GCA and USCF memberships (required) and must be purchased if necessary.

Tie-break System

In the event of a tie, the stipend will be awarded as follows: players will play two G/10 d5. After those games, if a tie persists, players will play one "Armageddon" game with White getting 6 minutes to Black's 4 minutes, both sides receiving 5-second delay, and Black having draw-odds.
