Where:  Benjamin Preparatory School 2445 Church Rd SE

1/2 mile off S. Atlanta Rd and 285.

3 Sections:   K-2nd grade,  3rd-4th grades, and 5th-8th grades

Players should play in their sections according to current grade. Players wanting to "play up" a section (K-2 wanting to play with 3rd-4th grade section) may do so and receive 1 point for a win, but only 0.5 points for a loss. In other words, players playing up will not receive 0 points for a loss. However, any player playing up that loses 3 games must return to play in their assigned sections.

Format:  Speed Pairing

In order to cut down on wait time between rounds we use "speed pairing" so participants can play as many games as possible in the hour and a half time session.  This way the players get to play more games and challenge more opponents.  Pairing is done according to who is winning the most games and who is winning the least games. By pairing the top players with each other we find out who is the best. And by pairing the more challenged players they get a chance for more wins.

Awards:  Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 players of each section. Also, positive score trophies will be awarded to all players with a positive score at the end of the second session. A 1 year membership will be awarded to a top player who exhibits good sportsmanship and chess etiquette.

Withdrawals: Players may withdraw at any point, however players will not be eligible for trophies unless the withdrawal is within 30 minutes to end time and they must have played a minimum of 6 games.

Registration and Entry Fee:

Entry fee is $25 if paid before April 15, 2019. After 4/15/19 fee is $30 until 30 minutes before the first session starts.

Registration ends 10:00 am before event. Please arrive early (9:30 am) if you plan to register the day of the event. All payments should be made through paypal.me/isaacspowerhouse. You may contact Coach Thomas if other payment arrangements are necessary

Registration should be emailed to  tch64@yahoo.com. The information needed is parents name, address, phone numbers, and email. We also need the child's name, school name, current grade, any special diets or needs. Anything special needs please  call 678-600-7745.

Information will be used to create pairings for the first session.

Eligibility: Participants must be in grades Kindergarten to 8th grade. No players should be rated over 400 USCF.  If your child is rated please provide their USCF member number.  This tournament is design to encourage participation by beginning chess players and not for experienced players who want to dominate over those learning how to play chess. This is a unrated event and will not affect USCF ratings.

Come join us for a fun, and the experience.
