8th Annual K-12 Thanksgiving Classic

Open to any player grade 12 and below.
4SS, G/30;d5 in rounds 1 - 4 except G/45;d5 in round 4 for the 2 top sections
Round Times: 10:30; 12:15; 2:00; 3:30 Cap: 160
7 SECTIONS: 5 Rated Sections, USCF membership required: Under 300, Under 500, Under 800, Under 1100 and Premier for players rated 1100 and above. Players may play up one section if rated within 100 points of the section. So players must be rated over 999 to play in the Premier Section. Notation is required in U-1100 and Premier.
2 Non Rated Sections: Grade 3 and Below and Grade 4 – 12 are for new players and players rated below 500 wanting to play unrated. Non Rated and new players may also play in either the Under 300 or Under 500 Sections if they want to become rated. It is suggested for new young players to play at least one tournament in a Non Rated section and earn at least a plus score before playing rated.
Entry Fee: Advance entry received by midnight Thursday, November 15, the cost is $29.
Late registration is $34 through midnight Tuesday, November 20. Then, $39 on Wednesday and Thursday, November 21 and 22. No online registration Friday, November 23. Onsite registrations okay at $42. At site, register by 9:30am to be paired for round #1. If later, you will probably get a 1/2 point bye in Rd #1. We will post registration updates on the Website, but the FINAL registration list will be posted at the tournament. It is the parent’s responsibility to arrive by 9:AM to have errors fixed before Round #1 begins.
Byes: 1/2 Point Byes available only in Rounds 1-3. No byes in Round #4. Byes for Round #1 must be made when you register. Byes for Rounds 2 & 3 made when registering or before Round #1.
Register online at: www.championshipchess.net click Register, choose Tournament, and follow steps to register and pay for the Thanksgiving Classic. Current USCF ID# required to be paired for Round 1, unless playing in a Non Rated section.
Trophies to top scores in each section and all players with plus scores. Special Chess Medals to all players in the Non Rated Sections who don’t receive a trophy. Premier Section: 1st place $100 and 2nd place $50 for Chess expenses, in addition to trophies.
National Master Tim Brookshear, Life Master Dave Vest and other top Championship Chess Coaches will be available between rounds to review games.

Some special rules: Adult chaperone required all day for players. Parents are encouraged to bring chairs and tables for their use as we don’t have the abundance of seating for parents as our previous locations. Also NOTE any tables and chairs brought inside must have rubber tips or appropriate protection for floors. Of course outside is not a problem.
