Charlotte Chess Center Blitz and Rapid Championship (Dec 3-4)

The Charlotte Chess Center Blitz and Rapid Championship will take place December 3-4, 2016. The Blitz will feature an open tournament with 8 rounds (double swiss) which amounts to 16 total games and uses a time control of G/3;+2. In each round of the blitz the participants will play one game with white and one game with black. The Rapid championship will feature 8 rounds at a time control of G/15; d3.
Participants may play in one event or both.
Where: Charlotte Chess Center & Scholastic Academy
When: December 3-4, 2016

Players may also register at the Charlotte Chess Center anytime
before the tournament. There will be onsite registration between 11:30am - 12:45pm.
Round Times:
Rapid (12/3/16): First Round at 1:00pm then as soon as possible. Estimated round times: 1:45pm, 2:30pm, 3:15pm, 4:00pm, 4:45pm, 5:30pm, 6:15pm
Blitz (12/4/16): First Round at 1:00pm then as soon as possible. Estimated round times: 1:30pm, 2:00pm, 2:30pm, 3:00pm, 3:30pm, 4:00pm, 4:30pm
Time Control:
Rapid: G/15 mins; delay 3
Blitz: G/3 mins; increment 2

Entry Fee:
GM/IM: FREE ($25 deducted from earnings in each event)
CCCSA Members: $30.00 for one event; $50 for Both Events
Non-Members: $35.00 for one event; $60 for Both Events
Rules:
· Prizes based on cumulative score from Rapid and Blitz tournament (rapid weighted double due to 8 rapid rounds vs 16 blitz rounds)
· Up to 3 half point byes available in either tournament, request before round 1
· Rapid tournament is USCF Quick Rated, Blitz tournament is USCF Blitz rated
· USCF Regular ratings used for pairings and prize purposes.
· Blitz: illegal move loses, touch move and other USCF blitz rules apply
· Rapid: notation optional, touch move and other USCF rules apply
